Silent Sunday Almanac: Photo Essay

Sundays in our house usually give us a chance to press reset, to ready ourselves for the week ahead. Renewal feels so essential for success in the coming week. Ordinary chores to me are cathartic and necessary, and anyway somebody’s gotta do ’em. A few images from the day today.

I love the rip my Clarence-the-Canine left in this duvet cover near the end of his life, and that I repaired on my sewing machine. It is a forever reminder of the wonderful companion he was.

In the bleak midwinter are also outside chores to do. The Chef has been working a little at a time on updating our flagstone courtyard to purge the irksome grey gravel that once filled in the spaces between the elegant flagstones and replace it with smooth river rock that is decidedly kinder to bare feet.

We have had a satisfying Sunday here.

  2. I loved this post. I felt so relaxed after reading it and feeling like I was there with you. Great photos- especially the repaired rip from your sweet pup Clarence. ❤️
